Cattaraugus County has multiple economic strengths, a high Quality of Life, and many unique assets to offer. It is clearly an excellent place to begin a business or to expand one. The Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning, and Tourism can develop a tailored incentive package to meet your needs and those of your business! Some examples are:
*Economic and Community Development Programs: This department uses the Cattaraugus County Economic Resources Profile and many individual community profiles, accompanied with an extensive website to market our county to local, national, and international business interests. Our county offers prospective developers and entrepreneurs a large database of available commercial and industrial sites and facilities. Other development services include infrastructure location mapping, a boundless inventory of economic development financing mechanisms, and other incentive programs that market technical assistance, educational workshops and seminars, grant proposal development, business research, and facilitation of economic and community development projects.
*Tourism Promotion: The main function of the Tourism office is to promote all that Cattaraugus County has to offer by means of attractions, events, and amenities to visitors from local, national, and international markets. The prime focus is managing the flow of current and accurate visitor information at all levels. One example is the production, distribution, and evaluation of the annual Cattaraugus Travel Guide with a press run of 125,000 copies. Overall, the Tourism Promotion Agency provides guidance to the tourism promotion effort in Cattaraugus County. The more extensively Cattaraugus County is publicized and marketed as a tourist location, the more business your company will get.
*Small Business Assistance: The Cattaraugus County Business Development Corporation (or CCBDC) provides one-on-one counseling for newly beginning or existing small businesses. Business Plan Development, educational seminar and workshops offered throughout the county, and application assistance for small business lending with the Cattaraugus County Microenterprise Revolving Loan Fund are all examples of ways that the CCBDC can help your small business. The CCBDC also has Business Resource Libraries throughout the county and a Computer Training Center at St. Bonaventure University.
* Procurement Technical Assistance: The Department administers a government marketing and technical assistance program as one of the special economic development projects in place to help businesses of our county and region. The Procurement Technical Assistance (PTA) objectives are to help business in marketing good and services to the military (and other federal, state, and local government agencies), provide assistance with a wide variety of contracting services, and serve as an information source for special contracting programs.
